Striped sunflower seeds are primarily used for food; and are also called confectionery sunflower seeds. From the same family as the black oil sunflower seed only this seed is slightly bigger, and striped in color. The larger, thicker shell makes it hard to eat for smaller birds, but Blue Jays, Cardinals and other large birds have no problems breaking through the shell.
